Jude Bellingham scored twice, including a 93rd-minute extra-time winner, as England edged Norway 2-1 to reach the World Cup semifinals
England defeated Norway 2-1 after extra time at Miami Stadium on Saturday, with Jude Bellingham scoring a spectacular brace, including a quick-reaction extra-time winner, to push Thomas Tuchel’s side into the semifinals.
Norway stunned the English defence in the 36th minute when Andreas Schjelderup mishit a sweeping cross-shot that looped perfectly over Jordan Pickford and went in off the inside of the far post. Right on the stroke of halftime, Anthony Gordon carved inside the left wing to find Bellingham, who shifted onto his right foot and fired low past Ørjan Nyland to level the score.

Norway believed they had retaken a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute when Torbjørn Heggem bundled home a rebound from a corner, but following a VAR review, the goal was disallowed for an Erling Haaland push on Elliot Anderson. Kristoffer Ajer would rattle the crossbar later in regulation.
Just three minutes into extra time, substitute Morgan Rogers unleashed a fierce long-range strike. Nyland uncharacteristically spilled the save, allowing Bellingham to pounce quickest and secure the winner. In a surprising tactical twist at the half-time mark of extra time, Haaland was substituted out for Jørgen Strand Larsen.
England finished with 12 shots, six on target, while Norway managed eight shots, four on target. English possession stood at 54 percent compared to Norway’s 46 percent.
Jude Bellingham’s successive braces against Mexico and Norway make him the first player to score 2+ goals in back-to-back World Cup knockout appearances since Diego Maradona in 1986. Bellingham has now risen to six tournament goals, sitting just one behind Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot race. Jordan Pickford set a new record for the most World Cup caps by an English goalkeeper during this match.
According to a report by Accra Street Journal, England will face Argentina in a blockbuster semifinal clash in Atlanta on Wednesday.
