WEATHER EXPLAINED

Understanding the forecast

What does temperature mean?

Temperature measures how hot or cool the air is. This page displays air temperature in degrees Celsius (°C).

What is “feels like” temperature?

It estimates how hot or cool conditions may feel to the body, taking factors such as humidity and wind into account.

What is the chance of rain?

It is the forecast probability of measurable precipitation during the forecast period. It does not tell you exactly how long it will rain or how much rain will fall.

What does rainfall in millimetres mean?

Rainfall is measured by the depth of water that would accumulate on a flat surface. One millimetre is equivalent to one litre of water per square metre.

What is humidity?

Relative humidity shows how much moisture the air contains compared with the maximum it could hold at that temperature. High humidity can make warm weather feel more uncomfortable.

How is wind speed measured?

Wind speed on this page is displayed in kilometres per hour (km/h). Stronger winds can affect travel, outdoor work and temporary structures.

PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

Weather tips for daily life in Ghana

During rainy weather

Carry rain protection, allow extra travel time and avoid walking or driving through floodwater. Never cross a flooded road when the depth or current is uncertain.

During hot weather

Drink water regularly, seek shade and wear light, breathable clothing. Take breaks when working outdoors.

During thunderstorms

Move indoors when thunder is heard. Avoid open areas, isolated trees and exposed metal structures.

Before travelling

Check the forecast again before departure. Rain and poor visibility can change road conditions quickly.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Does ASJ provide weather forecasts for all 16 regions?

Yes. You can select all 16 regions in the selector. Each selection displays forecast data for a representative location, not every town or district in the region.

How often is the weather information updated?

ASJ caches weather responses for up to 30 minutes to improve loading speed and reduce API requests. The observation time shown on the page comes from the weather provider and may be older than the page visit.

Can I see the weather forecast for the next seven days?

This version displays a three-day forecast using the configured WeatherAPI.com endpoint. The forecast length depends on your provider plan and API access.

Does a high chance of rain mean it will rain all day?

No. Rain probability indicates the likelihood of precipitation during the forecast period. It does not indicate the duration, exact timing or amount of rain.

Why might my town have different weather?

Weather can vary over short distances because of local showers, elevation, coastal conditions and other factors. The selected city represents the region but cannot describe conditions in every community.

Is this an official Ghana Meteorological Agency forecast?

No. This page uses a third-party weather data provider. For official warnings, severe weather advisories and safety-critical decisions, consult the Ghana Meteorological Agency and relevant emergency authorities.

Is the weather forecast guaranteed to be accurate?

No forecast is guaranteed. Conditions can change, particularly during localised rain and thunderstorms. Check updated forecasts and official advisories when needed.

What should I do if the weather data does not load?

The provider may be temporarily unavailable, a location may not resolve, or the API request limit may have been reached. Try again later and check that your API key and subscription allow forecast requests.
