The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) kicked off the week on a bullish trajectory Tuesday, following Monday’s public holiday, as investor confidence drove early-week optimism across the local market.
The benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) advanced by 21.55 points to close at 7,800.70, while the GSE Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI) rose 15.28 points to 3,668.97. Total market capitalization stood at GH¢157.68 billion, signaling continued momentum in Ghana’s equity space.
Trading activity was dominated by MTN Ghana (MTNGH), which accounted for nearly all of the day’s volume with 4.94 million shares changing hands. The stock edged up slightly by GH¢0.01 to GH¢4.10, reflecting strong investor participation even as the price remained relatively stable.

Selective gains also highlighted the session. GCB Bank (GCB) climbed GH¢0.51 to settle at GH¢14.01, while NewGold ETF (GLD) surged by GH¢13.40 to GH¢472.40, suggesting renewed interest in financials and commodities.
The upbeat session builds on a remarkable year for the exchange. Since January, the GSE-CI has advanced 59.57%, while the financial index has grown 54.11%, underscoring sustained investor appetite for Ghana’s equities.
With MTN driving liquidity and select blue-chip stocks attracting buyers, analysts suggest the rally reflects both domestic investor confidence and growing recognition of Ghana’s market resilience despite broader global uncertainties.
