Great Somas Soccer Academy made a positive start to their off-season preparations after securing a convincing 3–1 victory over TP Football Academy in a friendly match at the McDan Astro Turf in Labadi on Friday, October 2, 2026.
Great Somas started brightly and took the lead in the 23rd minute through Benjamin Owusu, who finished clinically to put his side 1–0 ahead.
TP Football Academy responded strongly and found the equaliser in the 37th minute, with Mensah getting on the scoresheet to make it 1–1 heading into the break.

After the interval, Great Somas regained control and restored their lead in the 54th minute. Owusu struck again to complete his brace and put his team 2–1 up.
With TP Football Academy pushing for another equaliser, Great Somas remained dangerous in attack and continued to create opportunities.
Their efforts paid off in the 72nd minute when Raphael Hodley found the back of the net to make it 3–1 and effectively seal the victory for Great Somas.
The friendly formed part of both academies’ preparations for the upcoming season, providing valuable minutes for players while allowing the technical teams to assess their squads, test combinations and build match fitness.
For Great Somas Soccer Academy, the performance and result offer plenty of encouragement as they continue their preparations, with Owusu’s brace and Hodley’s late strike highlighting an impressive attacking display.
