Shared History, Shared Future

The Ga Mantse emphasized the long-standing historical connection between Ghana and the United Kingdom, noting that communities such as Jamestown, Bukom, and Osu reflect these shared colonial-era legacies. He praised the UK-Ghana Development Partnership as a strong complement to the Ga State’s ambitions in health, education, climate resilience, and conflict prevention.

Opportunities for Business and Innovation

King Tsuru II urged both cities to pursue low-hanging opportunities—particularly in fishing, food waste reduction, and infrastructure for landing sites and harbors. He further positioned Accra’s youthful and tech-savvy population as ideal partners for digital entrepreneurship, innovation, and AI knowledge exchange.

Tourism and Cultural Exchange

The Ga Mantse noted a significant rise in Londoners visiting Ghana, as well as the Ghanaian diaspora’s vibrant presence in the UK. He proposed structured exchange programmes to boost urban management, skills development, and heritage tourism, with Accra as a growing hub for cultural and historic travel.

Broader Areas of Cooperation

Collaboration could also stretch into urban planning, education, sports development, creative industries, and climate action. Both cities share a common interest in resilient infrastructure, public transport modernization, and creative job growth—areas where sharing expertise can lead to scalable impact.

A Future-Ready Partnership

“Just like London, we are committed to building a safe, inclusive, and future-ready Accra that respects tradition while embracing progress,” said the Ga Mantse. He expressed optimism that this visit would lay the foundation for a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.
