Substitute Cyle Larin scored a clinical 78th-minute equaliser after Jovo Lukić’s first international goal had given Bosnia the lead, as Les Rouges secured a historic maiden point in Toronto.
Canada secured the first point of their World Cup history on Friday, coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina in a Group B encounter at a rain-soaked Toronto stadium.
The hosts dominated possession, holding 60 percent of the ball and registering 13 shots, but found themselves trailing in the 21st minute when Jovo Lukić rose to head home from Sead Kolašinac’s corner, scoring his first international goal.

Canada pressed relentlessly in the second half, creating a string of chances. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 78th minute when substitute Cyle Larin, introduced moments earlier, scored a clinical equaliser assisted by Jonathan David.
Bosnia held firm under sustained pressure in the closing stages, with both sides ultimately sharing the points. Canada finished with 13 shots, three on target, while Bosnia managed eight attempts, four on target. Canada also dominated corners nine to four and committed only 10 fouls to Bosnia’s 20.
Canadian captain Alphonso Davies did not make the starting lineup due to a lingering hamstring injury suffered with Bayern Munich in May, though he was available as an unused substitute. His absence was felt, but Canada’s performance suggested depth that could serve them well in the remainder of the group stage.
According to a report by Accra Street Journal, the result marks a historic milestone for Les Rouges, who had lost all six of their previous World Cup matches across past tournaments. The draw gives Canada their first-ever point at a World Cup finals.
With both teams taking one point, Group B remains completely open. Switzerland and Qatar, the other two teams in the group, have yet to play. Analysts note that the draw keeps both Canada and Bosnia well-positioned to battle for a spot in the Round of 32, with everything still to play for in the remaining matches.
