Accra, Ghana — India’s Om Verma has booked his place in the boys’ singles final of the World Tennis Tour Juniors J100 Accra Open after a dramatic three-set victory over fellow Indian Dev Vipul Patel at the National Tennis Centre, Accra Sports Stadium.
The sixth-seeded Verma overcame top seed Patel 6-7(5), 6-1, 4-1 before Patel retired, securing his place in Saturday’s final.
Verma, who showed resilience after losing a tightly contested opening set, responded strongly in the second, racing to a 6-1 win before taking control of the deciding set.

His reward is a place in the championship match, where he will face the tournament’s fourth seed, United States player David Beckles.
Beckles, the boys’ singles champion from last week’s J100 Accra tournament, continued his impressive run with a hard-fought 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 victory over India’s Shivtej Shirfule in the other semifinal.

The American recovered from dropping the second set to produce a composed finish and secure another appearance in the Accra final.
The final will bring together two players who have taken contrasting routes to the championship match, with Verma overcoming the top seed and Beckles, the previous week’s champion, seeking to retain his winning momentum on Ghanaian soil.
The World Tennis Tour Juniors J100 Accra Open has brought together talented young players from across the world, providing them with an opportunity to compete for valuable international ranking points and gain experience on the pathway towards professional tennis.
With Verma and Beckles now set for the final, attention turns to the National Tennis Centre for what promises to be a compelling championship clash in Accra.
