Agarwal and Patel claim J100 Accra Boys’ Doubles title

Accra, Ghana — India’s Mannan Ashok Agarwal and Dev Vipul Patel have been crowned Boys’ Doubles champions at the World Tennis Tour Juniors J100 Accra – Tennis Foundation Ghana Open after a hard-fought final victory over fellow Indian Om Verma and Kenya’s Zayyan Virani.

The top-seeded Agarwal and Patel recovered from a second-set setback to defeat the second-seeded Verma and Virani 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 in the deciding match in Accra.

The Indian pair made a fast start, taking the opening set 6-1 and putting themselves in control of the final.

Verma and Virani responded strongly in the second set, winning it 6-3 to force a deciding match tiebreak.

With the title at stake, Agarwal and Patel held their composure to prevail 10-4 and complete their run to the J100 Accra crown.

The victory adds another title to an action-packed week of junior tennis at the National Tennis Centre in Accra, where young players from across the world have gathered to compete for valuable international ranking points and experience.

The Tennis Foundation Ghana-hosted tournament forms part of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors calendar and continues to provide a platform for emerging players to test themselves against international opposition.

For Agarwal and Patel, the final victory capped a memorable campaign in Accra, as the top seeds converted their opportunity in the deciding moments to take home the Boys’ Doubles trophy.
