Canadian aerospace giant Bombardier Inc. has given a high-profile endorsement to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, hailing the Lagos-based complex as a “world-class project” and a critical supplier of cleaner jet fuel to the global aviation sector.
During an official visit, Bombardier Chairman Pierre Beaudoin praised the refinery for setting “a new global standard in industrial innovation,” emphasizing its ability to produce environmentally friendly jet fuel that removes sulphur emissions.
“This is a world-class project. It’s going to turn on innovation in Africa,” Beaudoin told executives and media, noting that the facility’s cleaner fuel aligns with stricter international aviation standards.

As a symbolic gesture, Bombardier presented Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, with a prototype aircraft, signaling confidence in the refinery’s long-term role in stabilizing jet fuel supply chains.
Refinery Reshaping Nigeria’s Aviation and Energy Markets
The Dangote Refinery — the world’s largest single-train refinery, with current output upgraded to 700,000 barrels per day (bpd) — has drastically reduced Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuels.
-
Supplies two-thirds of Nigeria’s jet fuel demand
-
Approved as the sole supplier of Jet A1 fuel to domestic airlines
-
Recently exported jet fuel to Europe and shipped its first gasoline cargo to the United States
Dangote highlighted that the project was built to meet standards set by the World Bank, US Environmental Protection Agency, European Union, and Nigeria’s own regulators.

“We have enough capacity to meet Nigeria’s domestic demand while exporting surplus products globally,” Dangote said.
The endorsement comes at a pivotal moment, as airlines face tightening emissions rules and volatile global supply chains. Analysts argue that Bombardier’s recognition strengthens Nigeria’s position as a regional energy hub.
