Euroka Boxing Promotion Stages Press Conference Ahead Of May Day Akotoku Showdown

The organizers of the Euroka Boxing Promotion held a press conference on Thursday 22nd April, 2021 at Bukom Boxing Arena ahead of May Day Akotoku which come off at the Lebanon House at Tudu.

Speaking at the event, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Hon. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije advised boxers to improve upon their skills and be disciplined as a hallmark of the business.

“Let’s expose our boxers outside for support, I am prepared to support in that endeavor” he assured.

He appealed to corporate Ghana to support boxing as the youth has potential in becoming world heroes.

He urged boxers and boxing fans to respect time and come to the event on time”.

Promoter Mr. Emmanuel Nii Amoo Mensah of Euroka Boxing Promotions thanked the media and all the sponsors supporting the event.

He expressed that boxing is a business that one must prepare very well before venturing into, as since organizing the ‘Saayoo Night’ he went to rest for a while to learn more and prepare for the future.

The night will see 13 bouts, including an eight-round West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) bantamweight encounter involving world title hopeful Manyo Plange of Fit Square Gym against Raymond Commey of Palmspring Gym.

Manyo, a former captain of the national amateur team, is expected to use this bout to fine tune in for his upcoming World Boxing Association (WBA) eliminator against Melvin Lopez later in the year.

Also on the bill will be Ghana-based Togolese, John Koudeha, clashing with Samson Niamou Aziz of Seconds-Out Gym in an eight-round international middleweight contest.

Other fights include a 12-round WABU and national super middleweight clash between Mawuli Folivi of Sonia Gym and Eliasu Sulley of Seconds-Out Gym.

Reformer’s Gym protege, Musa Lawson, will clash with Collison Korley of Discipline Gym in a 12-round super welterweight contest, Faisal Abubakar of Bronx Gym will face off with Gabriel Coffie of Sea View Gym in an eight-round super lightweight clash, while Sheriff Seidu of Panix Gym engages Enock Lamptey of Sonia Gym in an eight-round super featherweight encounter.

Three heavyweight fights will also come up on the night, beginning with a clash between Jacob Dickson of Bronx Gym and Jones Quarshie of Indigo Gym over eight rounds.

Abdul Ali of Seconds Out Gym will meet Voltarian Francis Mensah in an eight-round light heavyweight contest, with Osumanu Haruna of The Gym and John Dugu of De Oak Boxing Gym squaring off in an eight-round heavyweight fight.

The night comes alive with an eight round welterweight contest involving Abraham Afful of the Gym and Moses Lartey of Sonia Gym before Michael Osumanu Osunla of the Black Panther Gym take on Cudjoe Darah of the Seconds Out Gym in an eight round super-middleweight contest.

Young promising Richard Fenyi of the Fits Square Gym will clash with Odartei Lamptey of the Palmspring Gym in an eight round lightweight contest while a six round bantamweight fight will see Daniel Gorsh of the Bronx Gym fight Kofi Atanga of Indigo Gym to climax the long night dubbed: May Day Akotoku.

The media sponsors include GTV Sports Plus, Rainbow Radio, TV Africa, Peace FM, TV3, Happy FM, UTV, City FM, Joy FM, Max TV, Adom FM, Joy Prime, Hot FM, Metro TV, Amanie FM.
