On Friday, 14th February 2024, a delegation from the UK Foreign Ministry paid a courtesy call on Hon. Charles Asuako Owiredu, MP for Abirem Constituency, at Parliament House. Discussions focused on enhancing Ghana-UK relations and fostering deeper cooperation.

Hon. Charles Owiredu highlighted concerns over post-2024 election incidents, including alleged political violence, the raid on the former
Finance Minister’s residence, and the dismissal of government employees by the NDC administration.

He urged the British High Commission to
invest in Ghana’s sports sector, particularly community football leagues, and called for increased UK involvement in the cocoa industry through value addition to ensure greater benefits for farmers.

Hon. Owiredu emphasized the need to preserve and strengthen the long-standing UK-Ghana partnership to
drive sustainable development in both nations.
