Junior Firpo Completes Return to Real Betis Until 2028 After Leeds United Exit
Spanish-Dominican left-back Junior Firpo has completed a sensational return to Real Betis, the club where he began his professional career. The 28-year-old joins on a free transfer and has signed a contract that will keep him at the Seville-based club until June 30, 2028.
Firpo, who will turn 29 in August, made his senior debut for Betis in 2018 after coming through their academy, which he joined in 2014. After a strong start to his La Liga career with 43 appearances, he transferred to FC Barcelona in 2019 and later moved to Leeds United, where he spent four seasons in both the Premier League and the Championship.

His return bolsters Betis’ options on the left flank, where he is expected to battle Romain Perraud and Ricardo Rodríguez for a starting position.
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Firpo moved to Spain at age six, eventually settling in Malaga. He developed his football skills at various youth clubs including Atletico Benamiel and Puerto Malagueño before joining Real Betis’ youth system.
This marks Real Betis’ second major signing of the summer after acquiring goalkeeper Álvaro Valles from Las Palmas.
