The match started with Morocco taking the lead, buoyed by a home crowd and early pressure. However, the resilient Super Falcons fought back, culminating in a late winner in the 88th minute—a moment that will go down in the annals of African football history.
The $1 million prize, double the amount awarded in the previous tournament, reflects the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) commitment to elevating women’s football. This 100% increase is part of CAF’s broader initiative to improve financial rewards, working conditions, and professional opportunities for female players, coaches, and technical staff across the continent.
This win not only crowns a legendary team but also signals a new era of recognition and investment in African women’s football.
