Delivering the welcome address, Solomon Sasu-Mensah explained that the platform has been developed to provide a credible marketplace while ensuring strict verification processes for agents, developers, and property owners.
Chief Executive Officer of GhanaWeb, David Antwi, noted that after serving audiences for over 20 years, the company is taking another significant step by expanding into the digital real estate space .
For more than two decades, GhanaWeb has connected millions of people to information, opportunities, and each other. Today, we extend that mission to one of life’s most important decisions: finding a place to call home or identifying the right property to invest in,” Antwi said .
Addressing Ghana’s Property Market Challenges
The platform has been developed to address longstanding challenges within Ghana’s real estate market, including access to verified property listings, market visibility, transparency, and seamless connections between buyers and sellers .
For many Ghanaians, searching for a home, office space, land, or investment property has often been a frustrating experience. Likewise, property owners, developers, and estate professionals have had to navigate the challenge of reaching the right audience in an increasingly competitive market .
David Antwi explained that the portal goes beyond being a conventional property listing website, describing it as a comprehensive marketplace that brings together landlords, estate agents, developers, buyers, renters, and investors .
Whether it is a family home, an apartment, a piece of land, a commercial space, or a short-stay property, our platform provides the visibility, convenience, and reach needed to connect with thousands of potential buyers, renters, and investors in Ghana and across the diaspora,” he said .
Rent Control Commissioner Endorses Platform
The Commissioner of the Rent Control Department, Frederick Opoku, addressed participants, warning landlords, developers, and agents who fail to comply with registration requirements and rent regulations .
“For the past decades, GhanaWeb stands tall and still stands tall. The credibility of GhanaWeb is not in doubt,” Opoku said .
He noted that one of the key areas requiring attention on the platform is the involvement of real estate agents, stressing the need for users to deal with professionals who are properly registered and credible . He criticised the activities of unlicensed agents, popularly referred to as “quack agents,” who operate without proper identification, offices, or regulatory approval .
Live Demonstration and Stakeholder Engagement
Participants were taken through a live demonstration of the platform, where attendees registered and explored its features. While many participants welcomed the initiative, concerns were raised about fraudulent listings and agent verification .
Responding to these concerns, GhanaWeb’s technical team assured participants that robust security measures and strict verification systems have been built into the platform, and continuous feedback from users would help improve the platform over time .
Speaking t0 Accra Street Journal on behalf of the company, Head of Marketing Naa Jijama Appiah said the platform has been designed to provide a trusted digital marketplace where verified property listings, credible real estate professionals, buyers, sellers, renters, and investors can interact with confidence.
A New Chapter for Ghana’s Real Estate Sector
Held under the theme “The Future of Real Estate Begins Here: Connecting Buyers, Sellers, Renters, and Investors Through Technology,” the launch also featured networking sessions, product demonstrations, and stakeholder engagements .
With its emphasis on trust, verification, and technology-driven property transactions, GhanaWeb Real Estate is positioning itself as one of Ghana’s most significant digital innovations in the real estate sector, with ambitions to become the country’s number one property marketplace
