$38 million allocated to individual game titles
-
$27 million for the Esports Club Championship
-
The remaining $5.45 million dedicated to MVPs, grassroots tournaments, and regional rewards
This makes it the richest tournament in esports history, overtaking last year’s Dota 2 “The International” and Fortnite World Cup combined.
“This is more than a tournament; it’s a celebration of the competitive gaming community globally,” said Faisal bin Bandar, Chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation. “We’re seeing esports transcend traditional sports in viewership, talent, and sponsorship.”
The opening ceremony dazzled fans with holographic effects, international DJs, and player parades. Ghana and Nigeria are both represented through community qualifiers, marking a major milestone for African esports visibility.
Games will be streamed via platforms like YouTube Gaming, Twitch, and local sports stations, with an estimated 100+ million global viewership anticipated by the end of August.
🔍 Why It Matters for Ghana & Africa
As Ghana’s Esports Federation (GESF) prepares for its national tournament later this year, the Esports World Cup is a timely blueprint on how global collaboration, sponsorship, and infrastructure can elevate the African gaming scene.
