Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) boosts AFCON prize money by 40%

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced a 40% boost in prize money for the winner of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Côte d’Ivoire 2023.

The winner of the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023 will take home USD 7,000,000.

The runner-up of the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023 will earn USD 4,000,000, while each of the two semi-finalists will pocket USD 2,500,000. Meanwhile, the four quarter-finalists will each take home USD 1,300,000.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe shared that over the past two years, the organization has made big strides in boosting prize money for AFCON and other major tournaments. The AFCON winner’s prize now stands at USD 7,000,000, marking a 40% jump from the previous amount. He expressed confidence that part of this prize will help develop football, benefit stakeholders, and support Member Associations with their operations.
