Accra, Ghana — October 3, 2026: The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has received a donation of rugby equipment from the Chicago Lions Charitable Association & Rugby Club and Chicago HOPE Academy — Home of the Eagles, in a gesture aimed at supporting the development of rugby and youth programmes in Ghana.
The items, received by GRFU President Rafatu Inusah on Saturday, October 3, included rugby balls, jerseys, a whistle and a sports bag.

The donation forms part of efforts to strengthen international links within the rugby community while providing valuable resources for players and young people involved in the sport in Ghana.
Inusah expressed her appreciation to the Chicago Lions Charitable Association & Rugby Club and Chicago HOPE Academy for their generosity and continued commitment to rugby and youth development.
“On behalf of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to everyone at the Chicago Lions and Chicago HOPE Academy for their generosity, hospitality and continued commitment to rugby and youth development,” Inusah said.
“These items will serve as valuable resources in supporting rugby development in Ghana and are also a meaningful reminder of the strong connections being built within the global rugby family,” she added.

The GRFU president also acknowledged the contribution of Jen Kelliher, Ahn Gallagher, Chris Mallette, Dave Fee and Nikki Richardson, as well as members of the wider Chicago Lions and Chicago HOPE Academy community.

The equipment is expected to support rugby activities and development programmes as Ghana continues to build opportunities for young athletes.
The Ghana Rugby Football Union said it remains grateful for the support and expressed its commitment to strengthening the international connection between Ghana and the Chicago rugby community.

The donation highlights the growing role of partnerships and exchanges in promoting rugby development, particularly at the grassroots and youth levels.
