Erling Haaland scored twice in the final 11 minutes as Norway defeated Brazil 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals and extend their unbeaten record against the five-time champions to five matches.
Norway defeated Brazil 2-1 at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, with Erling Haaland scoring a decisive second-half brace to secure Norway’s spot in the quarter-finals and preserve their historic status as Brazil’s ultimate international bogey team.
Brazil had a golden opportunity to take an early lead in the 13th minute after a VAR review awarded them a penalty, but Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães failed to convert. After a tense, scoreless first half, Haaland broke the deadlock in the 79th minute. He struck again 10 minutes later with a clinical finish assisted by substitute Andreas Schjelderup.

Deep into stoppage time, substitute Neymar won and converted a penalty in the 90+9 minute to make it 2-1, but it proved to be too little, too late for the Seleção.
Norway finished with eight shots, four on target, while Brazil managed 11 shots, six on target. Norwegian possession stood at 44 percent compared to Brazil’s 56 percent.
Remarkably, Brazil has never beaten Norway in football history across five encounters. Norway now holds three wins, including the famous 1998 World Cup group stage and tonight’s match, with two draws. Neymar was cautioned in the 90+6 minute for a heated argument right before taking his penalty.
According to a report by Accra Street Journal, Norway advances to face either England or Mexico in the quarter-finals.
