Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah (Mzbel) | Factual Biography

Mzbel is a radio presenter and an actor, having appeared in several movies and  a global ambassador for people with disability. Growing up in James Town, Belinda attended the God Wisdom Preparatory school and continued to Korle Gonno 1 and Owusu Mills’ JHS at Mamprobi [a suburb of Accra] for her junior high school education.

Sighted by The Ghana Times, she once admitted to skin bleaching in her teen years because she agreed that it was the norm in Jamestown where she was raised but growing up, she had to stop looking at the side effect. Determined to expand her skills, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah known as Mzbel enrolled at the Ghana Institute of Languages, where she trained as a bilingual secretary. To diversify her expertise, she simultaneously undertook a one-year program in television studies, public relations, and media production at Manifold Tutorial College. Her dedication to education and passion for media set the stage for her entry into broadcasting.

After completing her studies, Mzbel gained an internship with GBC Radio 1, where she hosted the children’s program Mmofra Kyepem. Her charismatic presence on air earned her recognition, but it was her foray into music that propelled her to stardom.

In 2005, Mzbel became a household name with her chart-topping hit 16 Years, which showcased her unique style and lyrical prowess. This success established her as a prominent figure in Ghana’s Hiplife music scene and a pioneer for women in the genre.

Beyond her music career, Mzbel has ventured into business with remarkable success. She is the CEO of Mzbel Music and Bel Group, which encompasses several enterprises, including Bel Jam Records a record label, Bel Eye Media (a TV production company), Bel Kids Playground, a recreational center for children, and Bela’s Pub a restaurant and relaxation spot

Mzbel’s impact extends beyond entertainment and business. As a Global Ambassador for people with disabilities, she champions inclusivity and empowerment. Through her Bel Care Foundation, she demonstrates a strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, focusing on supporting underprivileged children. The foundation frequently donates to orphanages and works to improve the lives of vulnerable communities.

Her journey from a young girl in James Town to a celebrated icon in music, business, and advocacy serves as an inspiration to many. Her ability to balance artistic creativity with entrepreneurial ambition highlights her as a role model for aspiring artists and business leaders in Ghana and beyond.
