Egypt forward Omar Marmoush praised his teammates’ fighting spirit, which earned them a 2-2 draw against Ghana on Thursday in their second Nations Cup group stage match.
“We showed great spirit and proved what we are capable of. We played well and were able to get back in the game,” Marmoush said after the match.
Egypt twice came from behind, with goals from Marmoush and Mostafa Mohamed, to salvage a point from the contest. The Pharaohs remain in second place after securing two draws in Group D.

“We play like a team, attack in a block, and defend in a block. It doesn’t matter who scores or who assists; the most important thing is that the team wins. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to claim the full points tonight.
“We will analyze our performance tonight and start preparing for the next game. We will only be looking for victory, as always, to secure qualification,” added Marmoush.
The Pharaohs will take on Cape Verde, who shocked Ghana with a 2-1 win in their opening game, on Monday, January 22. A victory is crucial to keep their Nations Cup hopes alive and avoid a disappointing early exit.
