In a significant milestone for Ghana’s financial leadership on the regional stage, Ato Forson has been elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), Accra Street Journal reports.

Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID).

The announcement was made during the bank’s 23rd Annual General Meeting held in Banjul, Gambia.

Though unable to attend in person, Dr. Forson was represented by Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem, who conveyed his appreciation and outlined his vision on his behalf.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Forson expressed deep gratitude for the confidence placed in him by his colleagues. “This appointment is not only a personal honour but also a significant responsibility—one I embrace with humility and determination,” he stated.

The Finance Minister laid out four strategic pillars to guide his tenure:

  1. Strengthening Resource Mobilization to ensure EBID can effectively support development across member states.
