Faris Elias Attrickie is a distinguished Ghanaian insurance professional with nearly three decades of extensive experience spanning risk management, reinsurance, claims handling, and corporate governance. In April 2025, he was appointed Managing Director of Priority Insurance Ltd, one of Ghana’s top-performing non-life insurance companies. His appointment follows a career defined by technical precision, strategic leadership, and sectoral reform.
Born in the Central Region of Ghana, Mr. Attrickie’s academic and professional journey reflects the evolution of the country’s insurance landscape. He began his education at Twifo Praso Secondary School, where he was the institution’s pioneer Head Prefect, and later continued to Achimota School, earning national recognition for excellence in the 1988 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examinations.
He holds a B.Sc. (Admin) in Insurance and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, both from the University of Ghana, Legon. Professionally, he is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) and a Fellow of the West African Insurance Institute (WAII), where he also earned a Diploma in Risk Management and Insurance. His technical specialization in energy insurance was honed through a certificate program at the Insurance Institute of India in Mumbai.

Attrickie’s career trajectory is marked by leadership at Ghana’s largest and most technically demanding insurance portfolios. At SIC Insurance PLC, he spent 12 years, including 7 years as General Manager for Technical Operations, and a year as Acting Managing Director. In those roles, he oversaw complex underwriting across large industrial and commercial risks—ranging from thermal energy plants to refineries and infrastructure.
From 2011 to 2016, he served as Technical Manager of the Ghana Oil and Gas Insurance Pool (GOGIP). There, he played a critical role in shaping the underwriting frameworks for Ghana’s upstream oil and gas operations. His work covered major clients such as Tullow Oil, Kosmos Energy, and ENI, as well as insuring the Jubilee, TEN, and OCTP oil fields and the country’s three FPSOs—FPSO K. Nkrumah, FPSO JA Kuffuor, and FPSO JEA Mills.
He also held senior leadership roles at NSIA Ghana Insurance and Regency Alliance Ghana Insurance, where he contributed to operations and technical policy development. His governance experience includes board roles at the Ghana Oil and Gas Insurance Pool (2013–2016), Twifo Oil Palm Plantations Ltd. (2015–2023), and the ECOWAS Inter-States Road Transport Project (as Chair, 2016–2017).
Attrickie has been equally influential in talent development. Since 2009, he has lectured at the Ghana Insurance College, and since 2017 at the West African Insurance Institute, where he has mentored several current executives across the region’s insurance and finance industries.
His appointment at Priority Insurance Ltd marks a return to direct executive leadership at a time when the Ghanaian insurance sector faces increasing digitization, regulatory shifts, and macroeconomic challenges. Board Chairman Frank Oppong-Yeboah, who once taught Mr. Attrickie at WAII, lauded his appointment as a strategic move to strengthen the company’s risk culture and business continuity framework.
Outside of his professional commitments, Mr. Attrickie remains committed to sector advocacy and academic engagement, positioning him not only as a managing director but also as one of the intellectual custodians of insurance practice in Ghana and West Africa.
