Former Jonina Ladies player and Ghana international Abigail Appiah has started pre-season training with the Israeli Premier League team, Hapoel Raanana Women FC. Appiah completed her move to Israel after the 2024/25 season, during which she played a key role in helping Jonina secure third place in the league and reach the Women’s FA Cup final.
The dynamic defensive midfielder has made a strong impression at her new club, earning high praise from the bosses during her first few days.
Appiah was on the waiting list for the Black Queens squad, who clinched a bronze medal at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament in Morocco.

She was called up for the senior national team during their camping at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence as part of the preparations for the tournament early this year.
At just 21 years old, Appiah has a promising future ahead, having been named the Most Valuable Player on several occasions during the 2024/25 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season.
Her height in the center of the park makes her a valuable asset to any team, excelling in aerial duels and disrupting opposition attacks.
Appiah will be looking to leave a great impression on the minds of Hapoel Raanana with the new season not far off.
The Ghanaian is hoping to impress in her first season with the club and hopefully return to the national team fold as soon as possible.
