Peak Years & Recognition (2012-2013)
In its first year of operation, Radio XYZ quickly established itself as a credible force in Ghana’s English-speaking radio industry. The station “rubbed shoulders with, and in most cases, ruffled its competitors – some of which have been in the industry for almost a decade and others over two decades” .
GJA Award (2013): In November 2013, Radio XYZ was adjudged by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) as the best Radio station that promoted “Peace, Democracy and Peace Building” in the year 2012 . The award recognized the station’s excellence and diligence in pushing the agenda of peace and democracy, especially during the 2012 general elections .

Electronic Communications Tribunal Ruling (18th June 2018)
The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) sued on behalf of Radio XYZ and eight other stations. The ECT ruled that:
“A former holder of a Frequency Authorisation reverts to the same position as a fresh applicant when the Authorisation expires and as such Radio XYZ does not have a valid Authorisation to operate an FM Radio station.”
The ECT quashed the penalties imposed on the company, but confirmed that Radio XYZ had no valid authorization to operate .
Closure (9th May 2019)
On 8th May 2019, the NCA issued a letter directing Radio XYZ to cease operations since they did not have a valid authorization. The station was officially closed down on 9th May 2019 – exactly 8 years after receiving its initial authorization.
