The Office of the President has reaffirmed its directive prohibiting outgoing Ministers and political appointees from acquiring official government vehicles as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration nears its conclusion.
This policy, initially established in 2020, aims to ensure accountability and responsible management of state resources.
Under this directive, all Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Regional Ministers, Special Assistants, and other appointees are required to return government vehicles by January 3, 2025.
The President, in the latest statement, repeated that no appointee will be permitted to acquire an official vehicle through the usual valuation process previously allowed by past administrations.
The directive comes as a response to concerns regarding the misuse of state resources. It portrays a commitment to uphold integrity within the public service sector. The Office of the President stated that it expects full compliance from all affected officials.
