The reigning champions didn’t waste time. In just the 5th minute, Lebohang Ramalepe gave Banyana the perfect start with a composed right-footed strike into the top corner—signaling early dominance.

South Africa doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute when captain Refiloe Jane curled home a spectacular free-kick from the edge of the box, stunning the Malian defence and goalkeeper Fatoumata Karentao.

The second half continued in the same vein. Hildah Magaia made it 3–0 in the 61st minute, finishing with precision after an inch-perfect through ball from Karabo Dhlamini.

In the 79th minute, substitute Ronnel Donnelly added the fourth, calmly slotting in from close range following Nonhlanhla Mthandi’s clever assist.

Mali had flashes of brilliance from the likes of Saratou Traoré, Aïssata Traoré, and Fatou Dembele, but were consistently denied by South Africa’s structured defence and the excellent Andile Dlamini, who earned a well-deserved clean sheet.

With this result, South Africa advances to the knockout phase as Group C leaders—reaffirming their ambition to retain the WAFCON crown.
