Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has officially named Ndongani Samba Gilbani Oneil as the new club captain ahead of the 2025–26 Ghana Premier League season . The towering Congolese defender assumes the armband at just 23 years old, stepping into a leadership role for the Porcupine Warriors.
Joining Samba in the leadership cadre are Henry Ansu as first assistant captain and Lord Amoah as second assistant captain . They inherit the mantle following the departure of notable team leaders including Frederick Asare, Justice Blay, and Richard Boadu.

Samba Oneil, who joined from Rahimo FC on a two-year contract in July 2024, impressed last season with 34 appearances, contributing two goals and four assists before passing a mandatory medical in Kumasi . In his introductory interview, he described Kotoko as a “big club” and said he immediately moved to halt negotiations with other suitors because his focus was on joining the Porcupine Warriors

In conversation following his captaincy appointment, Samba reaffirmed his commitment to excellence on the pitch and leading by example: “I am committed to proving my quality and helping the team win the league.”
