Caroline Graham Hansen delivered a moment of magic to send Norway to the brink of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 quarter-finals, netting a dramatic late winner in a tense 2-1 victory over Finland on Sunday.
The Barcelona forward struck six minutes from time in Sion, misfiring what looked like a cross that ultimately sailed beyond the goalkeeper and into the net — a goal that preserved Norway’s perfect start to the tournament and ensured they remained top of Group A with six points from two matches.
Norway had set the tone early when Eva Nystrom turned Hansen’s low cross into her own net to give the Norwegians a deserved lead. The pressure continued as they struck the woodwork twice in a minute — Ingrid Engen hitting the post from a header and Vilde Boe Risa’s curling corner tipped onto the upright by Finland keeper Anna Koivunen.

Koivunen was a standout for Finland, keeping her team in the game with a series of incredible saves, including a one-on-one stop against Ada Hegerberg, just as the striker looked poised to score.
Finland grew into the game and were rewarded in the 32nd minute when Oona Sevenius expertly guided a shot into the bottom corner to level the score. They nearly took the lead minutes later, only for Cecilie Fiskerstrand to tip Eveliina Summanen’s curling strike onto the post.
With the game finely poised, Hansen had earlier missed a golden opportunity in the 82nd minute, firing over from close range. But she redeemed herself spectacularly moments later — slicing through the Finnish defence, skipping past four defenders before finding the net with a high finish off the post to clinch all three points.
If Iceland fail to beat Switzerland later today in Bern, Norway will become the first team to officially qualify for the Euro 2025 quarter-finals.
