David Beckles Wins J60 Accra Boys’ Singles Title

Accra, Ghana — American teenager David Beckles defeated Ghana’s Raphael Nii Nortei Dowuona 6-4, 7-6(4) to win the J60 Accra boys’ singles title at the National Tennis Centre, completing a strong run at the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors event

Beckles had to fight back from a set down before eventually defeating the formidable Frenchman 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 in a contest that tested both players’ endurance and composure.

Baudot made the stronger start, taking the opening set 6-3 and putting Beckles under early pressure.

But the American responded emphatically in the second set, raising his level and dropping just one game to force a decider.

With the title on the line, Beckles maintained his momentum in the final set, edging ahead before closing out the match 6-3 to complete a memorable comeback.

The victory marks another successful campaign in Accra for Beckles and further underlines the competitive standard of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors event.
