A 2025 Study Identified Four Critical Barrier Groups
A study of 292 construction industry stakeholders in Ghana identified the top five most critical barriers to the uptake of green building concepts and technologies :

Despite the promise of local materials, Ghana’s building code has not yet been updated to approve them for load-bearing construction. A research team at KNUST is deploying quantum computing methods to validate laterite-clay and agricultural fibre composites for use in certified construction .
